Windsor is part of the Northern Colorado region, and is a small town located in Larimer and Weld County. Windsor is bordered to the north by Timnath and Severance, to the northwest by Fort Collins, to the west by Loveland, to the south east by Greeley, and to the south by Johnstown. Windsor has been a huge part of our Real Estate development because of the new construction that has been going on since 1990.
Windsor is one of our favorite places to go to play golf at Highland Meadows Golf Course and Pelican Lakes Golf and Country Club! Windsor has exploded since we got into Real Estate back in 2001, and there are still homes being built at a record number. Windsor is a beautiful small city southeast of Fort Collins, and it’s vicinity to Fort Collins, Loveland, Northern Colorado, and to Denver has helped Windsor land on the Top Ten most desirable places to live in Colorado. Windsor’s population is relatively small, and the lack of crime is also a big reason why people love living there. Windsor Real Estate has erupted since 2005, and every single bit of land all the way up to I-25 from downtown Windsor is being used to build new housing developments.
Water Valley and Highland Meadows are the top two home communities to live in because of the size of home and space each homeowner gets with their purchases, but downtown Windsor and the original part of town is still a beautiful place to live because of the small town feel.
Windsor was incorporated in 1890, and was originally a farming community. Up until the late 1980’s when the urban growth started to boom, Windsor was known for The Great Western Sugar Plant, and later the Kodak plant opening. Kodak’s plant spurned on a ton of economic development, and Windsor as we know it was born.
Today, Windsor has two golf courses within city limits, Highland Meadows Golf Course, and Pelican Lakes Golf and Country Club. Also, Ptarmigan Country Club is right outside the Windsor city limits, but closer to Windsor than it is Fort Collins.
Windsor is home to Windsor High School, and several middle and elementary schools. The Windsor Wizards High School athletic programs are very popular among residents, and you can routinely find between 500-1000 fans at the Windsor High School Football games each week during football season. The Wizards won the 2015 class 4A State Football Championship!
Windsor is a beautiful small town in Colorado, and if you are moving here from somewhere else in Northern Colorado, or in from out of state, I would love to be your Real Estate Agent for your home search in the Windsor area.
